Thursday, Aug. 21st

Wine- Argiolas Costamolina 2007 (from Sardinia) We read about this on WS the other day, 89 points $14.99. At first it seemed to have little to no nose, but opened up when it came to the right temp. Was a little too cold at first. Higher alcohol than we expected at 13.5%, but really enjoyable.

Food- homemade pizza with leftover veggies from the week (spinach, mushrooms, peppers, onions, tomatoes, garlic) fresh mozzerella, parm, nitrate & antibiotic free pepperoni :)

Pairing was just "ok" food and wine both very good!

8/18 & 19

We are completely out of every day whites! Scary! Keith went to the Bruce Springsteen concert in Hershey on Tuesday and I decided to take out Thai food for dinner. I was reduced to buying wine at the Harris Teeter, something I hope to not do again in the near future ;) I chose a 2007 Zenato Pinot Grigio for $11.99. We've had their Valpolicella before and it's pretty good for a bargain wine. The Pinot Grigio went rather well with my Bankok Beef and spring rolls. It seems to have held up well over night thanks to the vac u vin. Now we're about to enjoy it with Mojo chicken, broccoli and corn on the cob. I eat much better when Keith is home :)

Monday, 8/18

Ok, the first post was really Sunday. We didn't have two meals and two bottles of wine on Monday, August 18th :)

Wine- 2004 Can Blau from Montsant Spain- a great case purchase from Mills (blend ofCarinena, syrah, and garnacha) good amount of fruit on the nose, albeit a touch "alcoholy", but at 14.5% to be expected, long smooth finish, and well balanced in spite of "alcoholy" nose. Left a ton of weird looking rings (sediment) in Keith's glass. Paired well with dinner in spite of being a randon cellar pick.

Dinner- Greek turkey burgers, kale with white beans

First Post

Ok, this is the start of the wine log blog. We'll keep track of what we have for dinner and what wine we open up along with it. We may horrified at how much wine we drink, but that can be the subject of a different blog. Onto the wines.
The first one was a good one:

Dinner Sunday, August 17 2008
2005 Williams & Selyem Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Grilled wild king salmon seasoned w/Wegman's BBQ seasoning, salt & pepper
Caprese salad of buffalo mozzerella, tomato, fresh basil, olive oil, salt & pepper
Wegman's pre-made wasabi slaw
Wegman's pre-made jicama/asparagus/red pepper/corn salad

The wine was awesome. The pairing with the salmon was good, but not so good with the caprese salad. I would have preferred a nice crisp white Italian
